Vietnam ranks 48th in the Global Innovation Index 2022

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam ranks 48th out of 132 economies and 3rd in Southeast Asia, after Singapore (7th) and Thailand (43rd) in the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2022 published by the UN World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

According to the GII assessment, Vietnam belongs to the group of countries along with the Philippines (59), Indonesia (75), Cambodia (97) and Laos (112) that have made the greatest progress in the past decade (up more than 20 places).

In particular, Vietnam together with Iran (53rd) and the Philippines (59th) are the three middle-income economies with the fastest growth rate of innovation performance to date.

Viet Nam performs better in innovation outputs than innovation inputs in 2022. This year Viet Nam ranks 59th in innovation inputs, higher than both 2021 and 2020. As for innovation outputs, Viet Nam ranks 41st, lower than both 2021 and 2020.

Switzerland is the most innovative economy in the world in 2022 - for the 12th year in a row - followed by the United States, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. China is nearing the top 10 while Turkey and India enter the top 40 for the first time, according to the GII 2022.
