Vietnamese players celebrate victory at the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group III event in Hanoi, April 2-7, 2018.

With 3 wins against Cambodia, Pacific Oceania and Malaysia, Vietnam topped Pool A and faced Qatar, the runner-up of Pool B, which also included Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Syria.

Ly Hoang Nam, who beat Qatari player Mubarak Shanan Zayid 6-4 and 7-6, said: “We’re delighted to have accomplished our mission. This was a tough game and the support of the spectators and teammates gave me more energy to win”.       

Kuwait is also promoted to group II with a win over Malaysia.
