Amano made the remark at a recent reception for Ambassador Vu Viet Anh, Vietnam’s resident representative to the IAEA who presented credentials to the international watch dog’s director general.

Amano also thanked Vietnam for completing the Chairmanship of the IAEA Board of Governors for the 2013-2014 term during which Vietnam has made significant contributions to realising the organization’s mission.

Amano pledged to prioritize support for Vietnam to finalize a legal framework, and train personnel for the country’s nuclear power development program.

Ambassador Viet Anh reiterated Vietnam’s intention to use nuclear power while maintaining the highest standards of safety.

Both sides discussed ways to boost bilateral ties, especially in-depth training for Vietnamese legal officials.
