The session theme is “Inclusive and resilient recovery from COVID-19 for sustainable livelihoods, well-being, and dignity for all: eradicating poverty and hunger in all its forms and dimensions to achieve the 2030 Agenda”.

Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, said that sustainable poverty reduction can only be achieved if threats to food security are resolved.

Legal frameworks and policies must reduce inequality and ensure the livelihoods of all people.

According to Ambassador Quy, Vietnam is prepared to participate in UN cooperation frameworks and hopes to become a regional food innovation center.

He called on the international community and Vietnam’s development partners to increase multilateral cooperation, implement non-refundable aid commitments, optimize resources for comprehensive recovery, and settle the debt crisis.

Mr. Quy highlighted Vietnam’s achievements in reducing poverty and protecting food security, adding that Vietnam is committed to realising the SDGs to create a sustainable future for all people.
