The Vietnamese delegation to the Committee’s session on Wednesday and Thursday in Geneva was led by Deputy Minister of Justice Nguyen Khanh Ngoc. 

The delegation’s participation in the session demonstrated Vietnam’s seriousness about fulfilling its obligation to report its enforcement of international commitments. The session is expected to give members of the UN Human Rights Committee a better understanding of the Vietnamese Government’s commitments, and Vietnam’s achievements and difficulties in promoting and protecting human rights.
Deputy Minister Ngoc spoke to Vietnam News Agency correspondents in Geneva on the progress and remarkable achievements Vietnam has made in promoting and protecting human rights, including civil and political rights, since its second national report was submitted to the committee in 2002. The UN committee appreciated Vietnam’s participation in the session and recognised the encouraging results made by Vietnam in implementing the ICCPR, hoping that through strong commitments and constant efforts, Vietnam will continue to protect and promote human and civil rights.
