(VOVworld) – Activities are underway to celebrate Vietnam Physician Day on February 27th. The Health Ministry today/ on Tuesday held an exchange in Hanoi to pay tribute to physicians. The Ministry yesterday also held an art performance during which it presented its 2nd “Silent Devotion” awards to honor Vietnamese physicians.

Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, said these Vietnamese physicians have always done their utmost for the people’s healthcare sector and obtained significant achievements. She spoke highly of the writing contest in praise of physicians’ contributions to replicate the role models among all health workers. Tran Sy Tuan, Editor in Chief of the Health and Life Newspaper said the 700 entries cover a wide range: Numerous authors have endured hardship to reach role models in remote mountain areas and islands, thus their stories are practical and touching. Physicians in those areas, despite their difficult living conditions, have devoted themselves to healthcare without any reward because they consider saving lives their foremost duty. Some even seek out patients or spend their own money to cure patients.
18 authors were honored and several outstanding doctors shared their life with attendees.
