Vietnam marks 27 straight days with no new coronavirus cases

(VOVWORLD) - By Tuesday, Vietnam had gone 27 consecutive days with no new COVID-19 infections in the community, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Vietnam has recorded 1,094 infections after 17 imported cases were added on Tuesday. 1,007 patients have recovered and 35 have died.

Most of the fatalities were elderly individuals with serious underlying health conditions.

16,000 people who have had close contact with a confirmed case or have recently arrived from a pandemic region are currently under quarantine. 

According to worldometers.info, 33.5 million people around the world have been infected with the novel coronavirus, which has claimed 1 million lives. The US has been the hardest-hit, followed by India and Brazil.
