At a reception in Hanoi on Thursday for foreign delegates who are in Vietnam for the Vietnam Reform and Development Forum 2019, Mr. Phuc said Vietnam is focusing on appropriate policies for development and fighting corruption and group interest. He underlined the nation’s belief in success with the support from the international community and expressed his hope that the World Bank, through the forum, will contribute more opinions to Vietnam’s policy making.

World Bank Group’s Chief Economist Pinelopi Goldberg said the World Bank has had close cooperative ties with Vietnam and wants to further this relationship. She added Vietnam is a success story in socio-economic development, but the nation has faced numerous challenges, particularly the middle income trap.
