Vietnam leads SEA Games medal tally by Wednesday

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam with 10 gold medals ranked top of the SEA Games’ medal tally by Wednesday. Kurash athletes won 6 gold medals, Rowing 2 gold, Pencak Silat 1 gold, and Handball 1 gold.

Wednesday was the second day of competition in Kurash, a popular martial art in Central Asian countries. Vietnam won 2 more gold medals in the men's under 66kg and under 60kg weight classes. Kurash team has so far earned a total of 6 gold medals for Vietnam.

Earlier, the Vietnamese women's rowing team won two gold medals in the northern city of Hai Phong and the pencak silat won a gold medal. 

The medalists are Pham Thi Hue, Dinh Thi Hao, Ho Thi Ly and Pham Thi Thao, who finished first in 7 min 23 sec, 10 sec faster than Indonesia's runner-ups.

Rowers Pham Thi Ngoc Anh, Le Thi Hien, Ha Thi Vui and Du Thi Bong also won gold after finishing first in the women’s four event. They crossed the finish line in 7min 4 sec, 12 sec faster than the Indonesian team.

Vietnamese rowers also secured two bronzes in lightweight women's double sculls and men’s double sculls competitions on Wednesday.

The Vietnamese women's team seni (artistic) on Wednesday brought home the first gold medal in pencak silat.

Vuong Thi Binh, Nguyen Thi Thu Ha and Nguyen Thi Huyen gained 9.996 points to beat their Brunei rivals.
