Vietnam, Laos underscore peace, stability, and rule of law

Prime Minister Phuc congratulated the achievements of the Party and people of Laos in recent years, especially efforts to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic. He expressed his belief that under the wise leadership of the Lao Revolutionary People's Party, Laos will soon overcome the consequences of the epidemic, continue to achieve their goals, and successfully organize the National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary National Party next year.

The Lao Prime Minister applauded the great achievements that the Vietnamese people have gained in national construction, development and international integration. He praised Vietnam’s effective implementation of its dual task: fighting epidemic and developing economy which has earned international plaudits. Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith affirmed that Laos will continue to support Vietnam’s role of ASEAN Chair for 2020.

The two sides exchanged views on a number of international and regional issues of common interest, agreeing to continue close cooperation within the framework of regional forums such as ASEAN, Subregional mechanisms and at the United Nations. Both emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, stability and rule of law.

The Lao government delegation is scheduled to visit several production and service establishments to learn Vietnam's experience in post-pandemic production and tourism restoration.
