(VOVworld) – The UN Human Rights Council convened in Geneva over the last two days to discuss human rights situations in a number of regions and approve 32 draft resolutions, decisions, and president statement. Ambassador and head of the Vietnamese mission to the UN Nguyen Trung Thanh said as a member of the UN Human Rights Council Vietnam insists on cooperation and respect to international law and the UN Charter to achieve peace, prosperity, and lasting social harmony.

The Vietnamese delegation contributed a number of important contents in the draft resolutions. It abstained from voting on a draft resolution on Syria. During its 2 years as ASEAN Coordinator at the UN Human Rights Council, Vietnam has contributed significantly to raising the image of ASEAN at the UN’s biggest human rights forum.
