The Congress reviewed the Association’s performance over the last five years and set out its plan for the next five years. Affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, its activities have been adjusted suitably, flexibly, creatively, and effectively to contribute to bilateral solidarity, friendship, cooperation, and exchanges. The Association links Vietnamese and Indonesian partners to make more resources available for socio-economic development.

The Congress elected a new Executive Committee, Standing Committee, Inspection Committee, and other key positions.

VOV Vice President Tran Minh Hung was elected Chairman of the Vietnam-Indonesia Friendship Association for the 2021-2026 term.

In his inauguration speech, he said, “Whatever difficulties it encountered over the past 61 years, the Vietnam-Indonesia Friendship Association has always worked to enhance mutual understanding and positive feelings between the two peoples as the solid foundation for a long-lasting relationship. I’m very grateful to our predecessors, who laid the first bricks of the Vietnam-Indonesia Friendship Association and created the best conditions for its operation over the years.”

Ambassador Abdi applauded the Association’s efforts to tighten the friendship between Vietnam and Indonesia and said he hopes to see more activities and programs to boost their relations.
