Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan insisted that Vietnam has always attached great importance to gender equality and social welfare, adding that the protection of human rights, including women’s rights and gender equality, is promulgated in the Constitution and the legal system.

Madam Doan called on “ministries, especially the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the Ministry of Information and Communications, relevant agencies, and social organizations to boost public communications, education, and awareness campaigns to change public awareness, particularly among men, of women’s role in the society and family. The Vietnam Farmers Association should proactively implement specific programs to improve awareness among its members on violence against women and girls, especially in rural and mountain areas.”

The 16-day campaign which was launched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism in collaboration with the UN Population Fund will run until Thursday.
