The Department said that according to Vietnam’s recent reports on sequencing the virus that causes COVID-19, up to 98% of cases were infected with BA.2, the rest were Delta, BA.1, BA.2.1, BA.2.2.

BA.2 has the fastest transmission rate, about 10% faster than normal Omicron. Other variants, through tracking information in the world, do not have much difference. Vietnam has reported a clear downward trend in the number of new COVID-19 cases, deaths, hospitalizations and severity, said the Department of Preventive Medicine.
