Secretary General of the National ASEAN 2020 Committee, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Dung told the participants that Vietnam pays special regard to the role of ASEAN Chairmanship 2020 and will give ultimate priority to fulfill its tasks. Vietnam has chosen the theme of “Cohesive and Responsive” as it wants to build a close binding Community to firmly responding to regional and global developments.
Deputy Foreign Minister Dung said Vietnam will advocate 5 initiatives including ASEAN’s sociality and consensus, regional connectivity, improving capacity to respond to and take advantage of the 4th Industrial Revolution, promoting ASEAN community awareness and identity, deepening partnership for peace and sustainable development, and strengthening ASEAN apparatus.
