China recently imposed the annual fishing ban, which is applicable from May 1 to August 16 this year, on an area including Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracels) in the East Sea.
VINAFIS said the unilateral, groundless, and repeated ban from China has seriously violated Vietnam’s sea and island sovereignty, rights, and interests; infringed international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS); and run counter to the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC).
VINAFIS noted that it resolutely opposes China’s wrongful fishing ban and demands China immediately end this unreasonable act in Vietnam’s Hoang Sa waters.
