Minister Dien said the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement is a great booster to trade and investment. Vietnam wants to export steel, iron, footwear, machinery, and textiles to Finland and import machinery, timber products, electronics, and advanced services in energy, healthcare, and education.

“Vietnam is a developing country with a nearly-one-hundred-million population. Its great amount of domestic waste and industrial waste need proper treatment. So waste-to-energy is an ideal solution for Vietnam, at the same time, treating all types of waste and generating power can fill in the power shortage from other sources. We warmly welcome Finnish corporations to invest in waste treatment in Vietnam.”

Ambassador Kahiluoto briefed participants on a framework agreement on the public investment assistance capital signed between Finland and Vietnam in January, saying it will enable Vietnam to access investment while allowing experienced and tech-savvy Finnish companies to penetrate into the Vietnamese market.
