Vietnamese people in the Czech Republic are trying their best to integrate into the host’s country via cultural exchanges.

Chargé d’affaires at the Vietnamese Embassy Tran Thanh Huong handed over a diplomatic note to this effect to Martin Klepetko, the director of the Asia-Pacific Department of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the note, Vietnam takes exception to the remark by Zaoralek which was harmful to Vietnam-Czech Republic relations and the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic.

Upon receiving the note, Mr. Klepetko said Mr. Zaoralek’s remark does not represent the viewpoint of the Czech Foreign Ministry and Government.

He also refuted Zaoralek’s statement, which was quoted by a number of media agencies.

A number of Czech politicians, scholars and businesspeople and the Vietnamese community have condemned Zaoralek’s remark, saying it does not reflect the true situation there.

At the June 21 meeting of the Czech Chamber of Deputies’ Foreign Affairs Committee, Zaoralek, who is former Foreign Minister, said education visa is an useful tool to send Vietnamese criminals into the Czech Republic and that Vietnam is a top security threat to the Czech Republic.
