(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam is considering mutual recognition of vaccine passports with a number of countries, the Government Office announced Sunday, calling the idea "necessary in the current context".

The select countries are expected to include China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the EU, the US, and several others in Southeast Asia

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to coordinate with the Ministry of Health and authorities in other countries to work out the details. Many countries are already using vaccine passports to re-open their economies.
