The 18-year-old athlete finished the race after clocking in at 11 minutes 9.05 seconds. Thanh Nga positioned herself in the rear in the first 1500m of the race, before sprinting and taking the third place, behind Uzbekistan's Dilshoda Usmanova and Kazakhstan's Akbilek Kuralbai.
The 20th Asian U20 Athletics Championships ran from last Sunday to Wednesday in Yecheon province with 44 events and both male and female participants.
Vietnam also had three other athletes in the tournament, including Nguyen Quoc Thinh in the men's high jump, Ha Thi Thuy Hang in the women's long jump, and Bui Thi Kim Anh in the women's high jump.
