Vietnam donates 1,000 tons of rice to Laos

(VOVWORLD) -The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday symbolically  presented 1,000 tons of rice as a gift of the Party, State, Government and people of Vietnam to help Lao people overcome the severe consequences of natural disasters in Savannakhet province.

Speaking at a ceremony in Hanoi, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said the donation is made in the spirit of the Vietnam-Laos special solidarity as a proverb goes, "One grain of rice is bitten into halves and one vegetable stalk is broken into halves." He expressed his hope that residents of Savannakhet province will soon recover from devastating floods and stabilize their lives.

Attending the ceremony online, Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith said emotionally that although Vietnam is suffering heavy damage caused by floods and storms in the central provinces, Vietnam is ready to help Lao people in the spirit of comradeship and fraternity. He affirmed that the Party, State, Government and people of Laos will always do their best to incessantly nurture the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam.
