Vietnam, Cuba sign cooperation documents during Party chief’s visit

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam and Cuba signed a number of cooperation documents during Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's  state visit to Cuba from March 28-31.

They include a cooperation agreement between the CPV and the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) during 2018-2023, an agreement between the Vietnamese and Cuban Governments, which clears Cuba's debts to Vietnam, and an agreement on judicial support in criminal affairs. 

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on scientific and technological collaboration between Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Cuban Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, a MoU between the Vietnamese Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and Cuba’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, and another MoU between the Vietnamese and Cuban construction ministries were also signed on this occasion. 

Of note, Vietnam and Cuba agreed to scale up efforts to review and push for the signing of a new trade agreement, putting it into force as soon as possible, under a freshly-signed agreement on the end of negotiations of the new deal. 

The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and the Prensa Latina News Agency also signed an agreement to increase the exchange of information and cooperation between the two agencies. 

On this occasion, the VNA reached a MoU with the Cuban News Agency (ACN) on increasing cooperation and making their information sharing and professional assistance more suitable with requirements of the modern press. 

Sovico Group of Vietnam’s budget carrier Vietjet Air signed a MoU with Cuban Civil Aviation Corporation, under which the two sides will seek cooperation for opportunities in the aviation market.
