Vietnam, Cuba seek measures to strengthen fraternal solidarity

(VOVWORLD) - The top legislators of Vietnam and Cuba discussed orientations and measures to further strengthen the fraternal solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries during their talks in Havana on Thursday (local time).

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernández agreed that the two countries will continue to closely coordinate in intensifying the exchange of delegations at various levels and regularly maintain cooperation mechanism.

They also agreed to continue supporting policies for firms to increase their investment in the other country; effectively implement projects on rice and maize production and aquaculture in Cuba; and boost cooperation in biotechnology, health care and tourism.

Mr. Hernández affirmed that Cuba always attaches importance to and wishes to deepen the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Party, State and people, NA Chairman Hue announced the decision to donate 5,000 tonnes of rice to the Cuban people.

Mr. Hue also presented the Ho Chi Minh Order to Mr. Hernández in recognition of his contributions to consolidating and promoting the special solidarity between the two countries.

Mr. Hernández said President Ho Chi Minh proved that no forces can divide a nation of strong will, however huge the difficulties and challenges are that nation has to face. He noted that Cuba has learned a lot from the Vietnamese people’s wisdom and bravery.
