Vietnam considers ODA important capital source: Deputy PM

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam considers oficial development assistance (ODA) an important source of capital and will allocate part of it to socio-economic development in its mid-term public investment plan, said Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh during a meeting with 6 foreign development banks in Hanoi on Thursday.

Representatives of the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank praised Vietnam’s efforts in institution building, project implementation, and ODA disbursement. Deputy PM Minh said amendments have been proposed to several laws regarding ODA and public investment. Mr. Minh said: “The Vietnamese government will consider simplifying procedures and streamlining projects. We hope the 6 development banks and agencies will coordinate their procedures with Vietnam’s”.

World Bank Country Director Carolyn Turk expressed her wish to cooperate with the Vietnamese Government on bigger projects with greater impact.
