Vietnam, Cambodia solidify friendship, cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam always treasures and wants to unceasingly strengthen good neighborliness, traditional friendship, and durable comprehensive cooperation with Cambodia, said President Vo Van Thuong at Tuesday’s reception for visiting Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn.

Mr. Prak Sokhonn is Vietnam for an official visit to co-chair the 20th meeting of the Vietnam-Cambodia Joint Commission on Economic, Cultural, and Scientific-Technological Cooperation.

President Thuong suggested the two countries maintain their fruitful political ties and promote highest-level visits and contacts. He asked Cambodia to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese-Cambodian people to live, work, and study in Cambodia. 

The guest reaffirmed Cambodia’s constant support for Vietnam at regional and global forums.

Receiving Deputy PM Prak Sokhonn the same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh urged the two countries to enhance economic connectivity and infrastructure connectivity, particularly expressways and border crossings, promote trade and cooperation in digital transformation and green energy transition, and support each other in building an independent and self-reliant economy.

PM Chinh also called for closer cooperation to build a shared border of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development.

He said Vietnam is ready to share its experience to help Cambodia successfully organize the upcoming 32nd Southeast Asian Games and National Assembly election.
