This was the fourth time in more than a week the Security Council discussed conflict developments in the Middle East.

Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the UN, continued to express his deep concern about the tense situation between Israel and Palestine with an increasing number of casualties for both sides. The Ambassador also expressed concern about the worsening situation in the Gaza Strip impacted by the violence.

Now that the situation is on the brink of an all-out war, the Ambassador called on the Security Council together with other countries, international and regional organizations to increase efforts to reduce tensions, end violence, and seek peaceful solution.

The Vietnamese diplomat said he supported the need for the Security Council to have a unified and timely voice on the current situation, affirming that Vietnam is ready to work with member countries to reach consensus on this issue.
