Addressing the UN General Assembly’s session on Zero Waste as a Solution in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals on Thursday, Ms. Thoa said it is essential to raise manufacturers’ and consumers’ awareness of waste and encourage them to lead an environment-friendly life style.

She stressed that international cooperation is extremely important, especially in financial support and technological transfer to ensure sustainable production and consumption, and effective and eco-friendly waste management.
According to the UN, "zero waste" is an approach to sustainable production and consumption, waste treatment in a closed-loop system, maximizing the reuse of resources, and mitigating air, land, and water pollution. In November, 2022, Turkey introduced an initiative to designate March 30 as International Day of Zero Waste and encourage the UN General Assembly to discuss the issue.
