Vietnam applauds RCEP’s role in driving Asia's digital economy

(VOVWORLD) - A Vietnamese official has underlined RCEP’s critical role in driving Asia's digital economy and ASEAN in particular, affirming that RCEP is the most comprehensive free trade agreement that ASEAN has signed and also the first FTA between ASEAN and non-bloc partners.

At Wednesday’s online seminar to discuss how RCEP could shape digital trade across Asia, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Quoc Khanh said the implementation of e-commerce commitments under RCEP will promote the region’s goods and service trade, and establish a large e-commerce space based on internationally accepted standards involving major economies whose e-commerce is growing.

He said this will facilitate digital connectivity, support trade and economic development, accelerate digital transformation, improve infrastructure, boost investment, and strengthen connectivity across Asia.
