The flight attendant had been working on flight VN54 that departed from London on the evening of March 8 before landing in Hanoi on the morning of March 9.

Upon her return to Hanoi on March 9, she began to show symptoms of the COVID-19 such as fatigue,  cough, and fever. Following the start of these signs, the flight attendant then chose to phone the hotline of the Hanoi Department of Health in order to inform them about her health status and itinerary over the previous few days. She underwent a medical examination at the hospital, where she was subsequently put into isolation in compliance with regulations set by the health sector.

After releasing information on Thursday about the positive test recorded by the flight attendant, Vietnam Airlines moved to zone off and report to authorities the list of pilots, flight attendants, ground staff, and relevant passengers in a bid to devise a plan in a timely fashion.
