(VOVworld) - Vietnam actively contributed to the 48th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM 48) and related meetings in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh told VOV in an interview on Thursday:

(VOVworld) - Vietnam actively contributed to the 48th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM 48) and related meetings in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh told VOV in an interview on Thursday: "Vietnam has promised to fulfil all of its commitments to help establish of the ASEAN Community this year. Vietnam supports efforts to promote ASEAN’s central role by strengthening solidarity and promoting consensus on all issues. Vietnam has made significant contributions to the meetings with its proposals on economics, cooperation, trade, and investment, and security."
Regarding the East Sea issue, which was high on everyone’s agenda, Minh said: "This is the first time all participating ministers expressed a shared concern about China’s construction and expansion of islands in the East Sea. They said all parties must ensure the full and effective implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) especially in relations to the maintenance of the status quo and not changing and complicating the situation in the East Sea. They expressed their determination to accelerate the negotiation of the Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) in order to maintain peace and stability in the East Sea."
