Pentagon spokesperson Dana White said in a statement that the decision was consistent with President Donald Trump's commitment in concert with South Korea. She said that no decisions have been made over subsequent military exercises, adding Defense Secretary James Mattis, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and National Security Advisor John Bolton will meet at the Pentagon this week to discuss this matter.

South Korea’s Unification Ministry earlier confirmed the suspension of the exercise.
