Receiving USAID Administrator Samantha Power, who is on a working visit to Vietnam, Foreign Minister Son thanked the effective coordination between USAID and Ms. Samantha Power personally and relevant ministries and sectors of Vietnam, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Minister expressed his pleasure at the strong development of Vietnam-US relations, in which USAID makes an active contribution to Vietnam’s socio-economic development through development assistance projects in such areas as overcoming the consequences of war, health care, education, and improving governance capacity for localities and businesses.

Power said she had visited and witnessed the results of ongoing USAID projects, including the handover of dioxin-treated land in the southwest of Bien Hoa airport on Tuesday. USAID will continue to focus on addressing war legacy, assisting Vietnam in mitigating the impacts of climate change, sustainable development, human resource development, medical infrastructure development, and response to infectious diseases.
