(VOVworld) – US federal officials have warned authorities in New York City, Texas, and Virginia about possible attacks by al Qaeda militants around Election Day.

Though no specific locations have been mentioned, intelligence officials have put counter-terrorism forces on alert.

A senior official of the Federal Bureau of Investigation said the FBI is working with federal, state, and local counterparts, share and assess intelligence, and will continue to work closely with law enforcement and intelligence community partners to identify and disrupt any potential threat to public safety.
