US President to attend Gaza summit

(VOVWORLD) - US President Donald Trump is expected to attend the Gaza Summit in Egypt next week, focusing on the future of  post-conflict Gaza.

The Gaza Summit, chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, is scheduled to take place on Tuesday or earlier at Egypt’s Sharm El-Sheikh resort, where talks leading to the Israel–Hamas ceasefire were held on October 9.

The summit aims to mobilize broader international support for President Trump’s 20-point plan for Gaza, which is facing security and recontruction challenges. Leaders or foreign ministers from the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Jordan, Turkey, Pakistan, and Indonesia will attend the event.

President Trump is scheduled to arrive in Israel on Monday, where he will deliver an address at the Isreali parliament, Knesset, and meet with families of hostages. Later the same day, he will travel to Egypt for talks with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and join a signing ceremony together with other guarantors of the Gaza peace deal including Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey.
