At the second tripartite ministerial-level dialogue on Monday on the margins of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly in New York, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, and Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono affirmed the importance of freedom of navigation and overflight and the free flow of lawful commerce in the region and around the globe, including in the East Sea. They applauded a UN Security Council Resolution on tougher sanctions against North Korea, and called for continuing international action to curtail Pyongyang’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
The same day, British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson told the “Friends of Syria” group that the US, Britain and other countries will not support the reconstruction of Syria until there is a political transition away from Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
