The US government, Harvard University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology reached a resolution that reinstates previous guidance issued by ICE in March, which allows foreign students with student visas to legally reside in the US while taking only online classes.

But the US Department of Homeland Security said the administration still intended to issue a regulation in the coming weeks addressing whether foreign students can remain in the US if their class move online.
