This is the 8th permanent US garrison in Europe. More than 10,000 US troops are stationed in Poland, which has become a major transit point for aid and equipment going to Ukraine.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, US Ambassador to Poland Mark Brzezinski said that the deployment of a permanent garrison base in Poland demonstrates Washington's commitment to Poland and NATO.
Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak welcomed the US’s long-term presence in Poland, saying the US garrison plays an important role to the security of Poland and NATO.
