(VOVWORLD) - The US House of Representatives on Wednesday voted 227-186 to approve a resolution that would make it illegal for President Donald Trump to launch any military action against Iran without the explicit approval of Congress. Trump is expected to veto the resolution.

Congress passed a similar resolution in January, which stopped short of fully restraining Trump’s ability to strike Iran, leaving an exception for situations when military force is “necessary and appropriate to defend against an imminent attack” on Americans.

1 US soldier and 1 US contractor were killed in an attack on al-Taji base in northern Baghdad Wednesday. No force has claimed responsibility for the strike, the most serious attack on foreign forces in Iraq this year.
