They pledged to play an active role in enhancing US Congress and Government support for improving ties with Vietnam.
Foreign Minister Son said Vietnam backs greater US cooperation in the region.
Both sides stressed the importance of overcoming the legacy of war in conciliation and trust building between the governments and people. They agreed to boost cooperation in science and technology, education, climate change response, clean energy transformation, among others.
The US delegation is led by Ami Bera, Chairman of the House's Sub-Committee on Asia-Pacific.
