According to the Department of Justice, the four Chinese had applied for research visas and have relationships with the People's Liberation Army (PLA).

The FBI conducted interviews with visa holders suspected of having undeclared affiliation with the Chinese military in more than 25 American cities.

The Chinese Embassy has not yet commented on the arrest.
