The recognition at the 43rd session of UNESCO’s General Conference in Uzbekistan reflects the international community’s high regard for Vietnam’s contributions to science, culture, and education, as well as for Le Quy Don’s enduring intellectual legacy. It also helps further promote and showcase Vietnam’s rich historical and cultural heritage to the world.
Born in 1726, Le Quy Don was a renowned scholar-official of the Le dynasty, a poet, philosopher, and one of Vietnam’s most remarkable polymaths.
His extensive body of work - more than 40 volumes - spans diverse fields including history, culture, agriculture, astronomy, and geography.
