(VOVWORLD) -Do Tien Sy, President of the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), on Wednesday met with Caitlin Wiesen, UNDP Resident Representative in Vietnam.

Sy thanked the UNDP for supporting Vietnam’s development. Currently, Vietnam is innovating, integrating into the world, and working toward a green, circular economy, as the message of the Vietnamese Prime Minister at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change 26 (COP 26) and the meeting with the Director General of the UNDP in the US confirmed. As a multimedia agency, VOV hopes that VOV and the UNDP will continue to closely and effectively coordinate in communication projects, bringing benefits to the community in environmental protection.

Wiesen praised past cooperation between VOV and the UNDP, and said she believes the relationship will grow.

"Given the climate vulnerability of Vietnam and the greater intensity of extreme weather again, we greatly appreciate the partnership with VOV, to recognize the role of media. We greatly appreciate the role of VOV plays. We look forward to deepening our partnership and to continuing to engage the important work on green plastic pollution and also looking at extending as well to issues like a circular economy and climate change, deepening our work on disaster risk reduction," she said.

Over the years, VOV and the UNDP have carried out many communication projects, including the project "Minimizing ocean plastic waste in Vietnam" and the 2021 press competition "Mitigating ocean plastic pollution", which have changed the awareness and behavior of businesses and consumers in protecting the environment.
