Burgener will not attend the ASEAN Summit in Jakarta on Saturday but she will hold sideline meetings with ASEAN leaders to discuss the situation in Myanmar.

A plan for the ASEAN Summit hosted by Indonesia has been backed by ASEAN members. In early April, Brunei, who is the Chair of ASEAN in 2021, said it advocates the Summit, which is set to discuss the building of the ASEAN Community, external relations, regional issues, and Myanmar’s instability.
