Head of Ukraine’s national police, Igor Klymenko, said that among the dead were several high-ranking officials of the Interior Ministry and two children. 20 others had been injured.

Kiev region governor Oleksiy Kuleba said the helicopter crashed near a nursery and an apartment complex, when the children and staff were all in the nursery. Emergency responders rushed to the scene to assist the victims. It was not immediately clear what caused the helicopter to crash.
