(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s U22 football team secured a historic victory by crushing Indonesia 3-0 in the final of the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 30) in Manila, the Philippines, on Tuesday.

At the post-match press conference, Indonesia’s U22 head coach Indra Sjafri congratulated the Vietnamese squad for their convincing victory. Lee Young Jin, assistant to head coach Park Hang-seo, said the Vietnam team will do their best to take Vietnamese football to new heights.

This has been the first perfect SEA Games for Vietnam as both U22 men football and women’s football won gold medals. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted a meeting at the Government Office on Wednesday to congratulate their success.

With an additional 18 gold medals on Tuesday, the Vietnamese delegation secured second place on the tally board with 98 gold, 85 silver, and 103 bronze medals.
