Addressing the opening ceremony, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh praised Tuyen Quang’s initiative to hold the festival as a unique version Mid Autumn celebration and to promote local culture and people. She said: “I called on the Party Committee, administration, and people of Tuyen Quang to continue education of political ideology, revolution, and tradition to make the event more effective. Tuyen Quang needs to stay united, be creative, and mobilize all resources to develop the economy, consolidate security and defense, and build a stronger political system. The province should pay more attention to preserving ethnic culture and ensuring welfare for the poor and ethnic minority people in remote and disadvantaged areas.”

The Vice President donated 300 million VND and 100 bicycles to 100 disadvantaged children who have excelled in their studies.

The annual Tuyen citadel festival, which is famous nationwide for a spectacular procession of colorful lanterns, is held in mid autumn.
