(VOVWORLD) -The United States is Vietnam's second largest trading partner, largest export market in 2022 and a potential market for Vietnamese exports, said Commercial Counsellor in the US Do Ngoc Hung.

Hung told a Voice of Vietnam reporter based in Washington DC that Vietnam's exports to the US in 11 months of 2022 reached 101.2 billion USD, accounting for about 30% of Vietnam's total export turnover. This marks the first time that Vietnam's exports to a country have topped 100 billion USD. Imports from this market totaled 13.5 billion USD.

The Commercial Counsellor elaborated on the prospect of trade between Vietnam and the US, saying “We have grounds to believe that in 2023 we can expect the two-way trade turnover to continue to exceed 100 billion USD."

"However, advantages and disadvantages, opportunities and challenges always go together. In addition to the support of state management agencies for industry associations and businesses, the smooth coordination between businesses and associations, localities as well as between businesses will help enterprises actively adapt and improve production capacity and competitiveness,” he added.

Hung suggested that Vietnamese enterprises exporting to the US pay more attention to the origin of goods and origin of raw materials.
