(VOVWORLD) - President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s official visit to Thailand and his attendance at the 29th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting from Wednesday to Saturday has attracted widespread media coverage in Thailand.

Thai media are saying the visit marks a new milestone in the bilateral relationship.

Thai national television and radio channels have noted that this is the first visit to Thailand by a key Vietnamese leader since the COVID-19 pandemic began and say

Mr. Phuc’s visit manifests a resolve to strengthen solidarity, coordination at regional and global forums, and cooperation in politics, diplomacy, national defense, national security, economics, trade, and investment in a spirit of friendship, solidarity and unity to maintain peace, stability, and prosperous development in the two countries and the region at large.

ThaiPBSWorld, an English language news website maintained by the Thai Public Broadcasting Service, posted an article by Kavi Chongkittavorn that highlights the significance of President Phúc’s visit in elevating the strategic partnership.

According to the article, Vietnam is a primary driver of development in the Mekong sub-region, in particular the revitalized Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS).
