Speaking at the event, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan highlighted the Party and State policies to assist the poor so that no one is left behind. She lauded the close coordination between the Vietnam People’s Army and the Border Guards in helping localities to reduce poverty. Ngan said: “Over the past few years, the program to bring a happy Tet to border people has been organized in 44 border provinces. I’m impressed by the program activities and the ways they have been organized. The Border Guard force has contributed to strengthening the political system at the grassroots level, improving people’s material and spiritual lives, and educating national tradition for the younger generation.”

The Border Guard force plans to deliver 20,000 gifts, 40 charity houses, 100 breeding cows to poor people in border areas, and 500 gifts to poor pupils with outstanding academic results, and organize free medical checkups for local people.
