(VOVworld) - Doctors of the HCM City-based Pediatrics Hospital No 1 have successfully performed a congenital heart surgery for a 2-month baby suffering cardiac congenital heart defect. This is fifth rare and difficult case in the world and the first of its kind in Vietnam.

Doctor Ha Van Luong, a member of the operation team, said: “We’ve kept close eye on this case because just a minor change can make the patient dead while undergoing the surgery. Coronary artery is one of the most important parts of the heart but its trajectory changed.”

After a 4-hour operation, the child patient has been in a stable condition, can breathe with support of oxygen, eat, and drink.
